Main Text
Luke 11:1-4
11 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
2 He said to them, “When you pray, say:” ‘Father,[a]
hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.[b]
3 Give us each day our daily bread.
4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c]
And lead us not into temptation.[d]’”

Series Overview
When we pray, it is not so that we can get what we want from God.
Rather, prayer is a way to connect with Him and realign our hearts with His.

Prayer is one of the most important aspects of our lives as followers of Jesus, and it should not be taken lightly.

It’s something we can do every single day. Like any relationship, if you don’t spend time with that person the relationship will suffer.

Prayer is a way for us to spend time with God. It is a way to connect with Him and align our hearts with His. When we pray, we are inviting God into our lives and asking for His guidance. And such is the essence of our October series for us to learn the importance of prayer in our personal lives.

Hallowed be thy name!

The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer the Lord Jesus taught His disciples, The words reveal that we are dependent on God for the smallest things, both physical and spiritual.
Jesus is the ultimate example.
His devotion to a consistent prayer life reveals the importance prayer should have in our daily lives. Jesus’ example is enough to know why it is important to pray!

When Jesus made the time to pray, even with the busyness of His ministry and the demands of everyday life, He showed us the importance of prayer and how it helps us connect with the Father.

Week Kick Off | Birthday Sunday

Title:
Hallowed be thy name:
Making Prayer Your Priority

Verse:
Luke 11
1 One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.

Why do we have to hallow His name?
First, it begins with the power of Christ.  We cannot be ambassadors in our own power and strength. We must do it in the power of Christ. There was something beautiful about the prayer life of Jesus, and the way He prayed showed something of His relationship with God the Father. Prayer is the priority of Jesus!

Hallowed be thy name:
Discovering Prayer’s Purpose

Verse:
Luke 11:2
2 He said to them, “When you pray, say:” ‘Father,[a]hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.

What does it mean to Hallow his name?
Hallowed means set apart. It is to say that there is no one like God, He is completely unique. Name means that God’s whole character, His whole person, is set apart.

It means we apply the Lordship of Christ to every area of life: our careers, our finances, our lives, our families, our children, and our thought life. In everything, we pray God make his name known through us. The model prayer shows us passion for God’s glory and agenda. His name, kingdom and will have the top priority.

Title:
Hallowed be thy name:
Believing in Prayer’s Provision

Verse: Luke 11
3 Give us each day our daily bread.

How can we hallow His name?
To give thanks and credit for everything he had provided in our lives.
The model prayer shows us to freely bring our needs to God.  God does care about everyday things, and we should pray about them.

Week Three | Facilities Sunday

Title:
Hallowed be thy name:
Living in Prayer’s Protection

Verse: Luke 11
4 Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c]
And lead us not into temptation.[d]’”
What is the outcome of Hallowing His name?
We can live a forgiven life that is able to forgive others. The protection of the Lord follows us as we hollow his name. We honor God’s name by living out our Christian life. As Christians, we represent the name of God to the world. We are the Christ they see. So, what does my life tell them about what God looks like? We are a called-out community, intentioned to reflect the values of another kingdom, of another king. We should pursue holiness because we bear Christ’s name. The outcome is changed lives.
